The wisdom literature of the OT teaches us that we are to seek wisdom always.  It is telling us not to learn things the hard way.  As for me, I have experienced “learning the hard way” more than I want to remember.  Often life will teach us by difficult experience what we could have avoided, had we been astute enough in our observations and passionate enough in our pursuit of wisdom.  Our quiet times with the Spirit, our study of Scripture, and obeying the teachings of our Lord, are the wise ways to build our lives on the Rock.

The purpose of Proverbs- “To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding, To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity; To give prudence to the naive, To the youth knowledge and discretion.” Pr 1:2-4 (NASB)
