“When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and dies because of it, for his iniquity which he has committed he will die.  Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and practices justice and righteousness, he will save his life.” Ezekiel 18:26-27

God is not preoccupied with our past wickedness.  He wants us to turn from it and to Him and live.  God is most concerned with the kind of person we are becoming. Ezekiel’s passage teaches the awesome power of human choice and the consequences of free will.  More than that however, this passage is a revelation: the possibility of character transformation.  We are ever becoming something better than we are or something worse.
