“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” Hebrews 13:5 (ESV). In a consumer society it is difficult to be content. It is more than easy to love money and the things it will buy. “Lovers of money” will be a last-days problem according to 2 Timothy 3:1-2. Loving God with one’s whole being will steer us away from all lesser loves and a multitude of idols.
