“Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart” (I Pet 1:22). The soul must be purified before it can love fully. The non-love pollutants must be purged out. The Lord keeps showing you your heart the way it is because He wants to make it new by His grace. The heart can be cleansed. This is the goal of grace and Christian instruction.
“But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith” (I Tim 1:5).
