Jesus is the Light of the World. As Christians we “share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light” Col 1:12b (NIV). Jesus is King of the Kingdom of Light. He who was Light said, “Let there be light”. The darkness cannot overcome this Light (Jn 1:5). To walk in His light is to have fellowship with God and forgiveness of sins (I Jn 1:7). Kingdom citizens walk as “children of light” (Eph 5:8). If they claim to know this Light and still walk in sin’s darkness they are deceived (I Jn 1:6). The King of Light has made His kingdom citizens His light bearers (Mt 5:14-16).
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12 (NASB)
