In a very real sense, Jesus died in the garden before He died on the cross, though He was “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Rev 13:8). In the garden prayer, He said His final, “Nevertheless, not my will but your will be done.”  The physical pain would come tomorrow.  All of our surrender and consecration must be hammered out in prayer with a final “Yes”!  This crisis “yes” is key to the process of our sanctification.
