We need self-denial because we are so inclined to be self-sufficient and independent of God in our daily living. In my home state I have seen a church named, “The God Dependent Baptist Church.” They want all to get the message that they are not independent of God. If your life sign says “Self-sufficient,” “Independent,” then you need to join the “Take Up Your Cross Church” and really follow Jesus. Be God dependent!
“And it shall come to pass in that day That the remnant of Israel, And such as have escaped of the house of Jacob, Will never again depend on him who defeated them, But will depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.” Isaiah 10:20 (NKJV)
