I have done lots of dumb things in my life.  They are not all “ancient history”.  They are painful to recall.  They keep me humble.  They remind me of my imperfections.  They remind me of my need of grace.  They remind me that God has a lot more work to do with this frail vessel.  These dumb things do not mean that I have no value.  Jesus was given for people just like me.  He put His Spirit inside of me; I feel His embrace, I gratefully receive His mercy, and I know He is helping me to do and be better every day.

“The best of men still need Christ in his priestly office, to atone for their omissions, their short-comings,…their mistakes in judgment and practice, and their defects of various kinds. For these are all deviations from the perfect law, and consequently need an atonement.” John Wesley
