Rival groups at Corinth divided the church based on favorite apostles.  Political positions and leaders now divide the church. Petty differences divide local congregations.  Whatever divides the church is against Christ and hurts His cause.  Whatever divides the body, chopping off members (I Cor 12:21) is nothing less than Christ crucifying.  The church is the body of Christ, and for the hand to cut off the toe as of no use stabs the heart of our Head.  Division needs to stop in the name of the wholeness of Christ’s body.

“For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?  For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?” 1 Corinthians 3:3-4 (NKJV)
