Free grace is not free.  It was costly to the One who provides it.  It is costly to the receiver.  It has to be given away as grace to others.  It is to forgive the way we are forgiven; to accept as God has accepted us; to serve as we have been served; to give as we have received; to let God’s grace flow through us to those who “don’t deserve it,” remembering that we did not deserve it either.  It costs getting self out of the way to give grace.

“As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive” Colossians 3:12-13 (NRSV).
