Return From Exile

By |Dec 15, 2017|Advent, Christ, Christmas, Joy|0 Comments

All of Israel did not return from exile, maybe only ten percent.  The land continued to be under foreign domination.  Those who did return came to understand that exile would never be fully over until Messiah came.  Part of the Christmas message is that Jesus has come to bring us back from the far country;

King of All

The world wants to restrict Jesus to your private spiritual life.  Sadly we have capitulated.  The world is fine with that.  It does not want His kingdom teachings messing up their lives and values.  Jesus wants to bring all things under the dominion of God as the true King of the world.  Nothing is left

Jesus’ kingdom is a jubilee kingdom of forgiveness and cancelled debts.  He said, “When you pray say, ‘forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us’” (Luke 11:4).  Nothing can free you as much as receiving your own forgiveness and forgiving someone else.  The two go hand in hand;

“She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” Matthew 1:21 (NASB).  When I was lost, He came looking for me and found me.  When I confessed my sins, He forgave me.  I was unlovable, yet He loved me, a slave and He

Mary was an ovulating young Jewish virgin. Inside her body was a special egg. This ovum was chosen by the Father to live out the humility of God.  By the Holy Spirit, the seed of God enters the ovum.  Once this union takes place, before the first division of the cell, “It” is not half-human

Out Of Egypt

Joseph’s second dream instructed him to flee with Mary and Jesus to Egypt.  This was not just inconvenience, it was, “Flee for your son’s life.”  Under persecution and terror, and for survival, the refugees set out.  Jesus here is reliving Israel’s story when His ancestors fled to Egypt to avoid the death of famine.  Later,

Every child knows that Herod is the great villain in the Christmas story.  They know it was not the truth when he said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him” (Mt 2:8).  Herod saw Christ as the
