True Christianity is not binding but liberating. Legalism binds. Love sets free. Even surrender to the cross sets us free. Christ did not come to bring us a new religion, more rigid than the ones that preceded it. He came to give freedom through love and grace. He welcomed those who, before, had been unwelcome. He received a divorcee and adulteress at the well. He gave hope to prostitutes and prodigals. He received the destitute. He freed the demon possessed. He offered freedom to the religionists of His day. The freedom Jesus brings is truly freeing.
