If the Bible is not upsetting your opinions, you may still be trying to use it to justify your existing opinions.  We do not like when people disturb our preconceptions.  This is why we prefer to listen to people with whom we already agree.  We have forced the Bible into our box so we can control what it says.  It is not always easy to let it reprove and correct us.  We need the Holy Spirit to let the Bible disrupt our thoughts, change our minds, and modify our behavior.  Until the Word of God turns our world upside down, we are not likely to turn the world right side up.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NASB).
